Thanksgiving – Our Form of Worship

Turkey dinner

Lord willing we will spend time with family and friends this Thanksgiving Day. What a joyous celebration around the table in blessed conversation, family updates and additions, and of course tasty and splendid foods plenteously prepared. These indeed are moments to remember and our fellowship nurtured. It is simply a grand occasion. Thanksgiving!

Is this not a reflection of what our daily worship should be?

A thankful worship around God’s table, giving thanks for the fellowship we can have, and how on a daily basis we are being nurtured. And with gratitude we give thanks. Thanks to him who has invited us to the table and prepared for us the splendid food He so graciously and abundantly prepares for us.

These are moments each day we should remember in our worship. As the Psalmist said, “Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture”…I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving. This will please the Lord…”

So everyday should be a day of worship and thankful celebration for his great faithfulness as in the poem written by Thomas O. Chisholm and sang as a praise:

“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father

There is no shadow of turning with Thee

Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not

As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!

Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided

Great is Thy faithfulness Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,

Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,

Join with all nature in manifold witness

To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,

Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide

Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,

Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Have A Blessed Thanksgiving!!!
